Description
Chair 3300, conceived by Swiss designer Bruno Rey in 1971, has become an icon of 20th-century industrial design. It was created at a time when the use of lightweight, durable materials such as aluminum was booming, enabling designers to explore new avenues for creating furniture. Bruno Rey, with the benefit of his apprenticeship at the Zurich School of Applied Art under the tutelage of Willy Guhl, decided to create a chair that did not use screws and bolts. The 3300 chair born of this idea occupies a place of choice in design history, embodying the minimalist and functionalist aesthetic of the period. This chair has been reissued by Hay in collaboration with Dietiker since 2022. It features a one-piece structure in beech veneer, which forms both the back frame and the backrest. This innovative construction creates a fluid, coherent silhouette. The seat and front legs are made of solid beech. Plastic glides are fitted under each leg. The manufacturer’s label is visible under the seat.
