Description
The main title of the piece is « Fauteuil Albatros, » created in 1969 and presented at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in the same year. Produced by Airborne, located in Aire-sur-l’Adour, the Albatros chair was born in 1969, crafted from molded polyester reinforced with fiberglass. This innovative combination of materials provided Quarante with incredible freedom of form while ensuring good resistance and elasticity of the seat.
The chair’s dimensions measure 68 x 88 x 80 cm, making it a comfortable yet visually striking piece of furniture. Minor fissures may be present at the base, characteristic of its manufacturing process. Crafted in the 1970s by Airborne, the bench features a molded polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass shell. In good condition with signs of use and scratches, it retains its timeless appeal.
Among her many works, Danielle Quarante is best known for developing the Albatros chair for Airborne. The Albatros chair received the Henri Mercier prize for best creation at the 1969 Salon des Artistes Decorateurs in Paris, solidifying its status as a symbol of 20th-century design.
