Description

This suspension was created by Achille Castiglioni for the Italian manufacturer house Flos. This designer was a key figure in design of the 20th century . He will be recognized for these avant-garde creations and sometimes inspired by the ready-made. The reflector is in chromed metal with white lacquer on the inside. The opal polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) molded diffuser is suspended, using 3 steel cables. The diffuser is not completely flat. This luminaire is still produced by Flos. The wiring is original. Artistic trend: The ready-made (term coined by Marcel Duchamp in 1916) is a manufactured object, deprived of its initial function by the artist who then gives it the status of a work of art.
