Desk lamp by Eileen Gray for Jumo 1940s

This desk lamp was designed by Irish designer Elieen Gray for Jumo in the 1940s. Elieen Gray is a major figure in 20th century design and architecture. She began to embrace the Art Deco movement in the 1920s, before turning to modern ideas in the 1930s. She created furniture that was in line with modern ideas of function and use. Unlike her colleagues who adhered to these ideas, she incorporated a human and lively aspect into her creations. The shade and base of this lamp are tiltable. It is made from chrome and grey metal.
