Description
The "Tonneau" or "Amsterdam" armchair was created by Pierre Guariche for the famous French manufacturer Steiner in 1954. From the early 50's, the designer collaborated with major furniture names such as Airbone and Steiner. Guariche developed a particular interest in mass-produced furniture. After World War II, he designed modern furniture to be produced in series at affordable prices for the widest possible audience. The "Tonneau" model was therefore designed to meet these new post-war imperatives. This model is no longer produced today.
The armchair features a black lacquered metal base on which rests a central opening shell. It is made of curved wood covered with a textured green velvet fabric. The fabric is original. This chair is finished with armrests resting on the curved base. Three are available, in perfect condition with original fabric.
