Description

This armchair changed the history of upholstered furniture. It’s the result of an intuition by Ara and Tobia Scarpa. Designed in 1969, based on the new possibilities offered by the molding of polyurethane foam to generate unconventional relaxation. The couple were heavily influenced by Tobia's father, Carlo Scarpa, a Venetian architect and designer. The design of the Soriana armchair won them numerous awards such as the Compasso d'Oro in 1970, for their design of the Soriana armchair. Their design work is a mix of architecture and everyday household items including home decor, furniture, clothing, art glass. 100% recycled PET or wadding padding as well as a painted metal structure. Model reupholstered in natural camel leather. The particularity of this chair is that it doesn’t need internal support due to the metal structure that encircles it.
