Description

Rational and accessible, that's how Pierre Guariche imagined his furniture pieces. Graduating in 1949 from the National School of Decorative Arts, he, who was already an engineer, began his career as a decorator alongside Marcel Gascoin. From the early 1950's, the designer collaborated with big names in design, such as Airbone and Steiner. The creator developed a particular interest in serial furniture. After World War II, concerned about the needs of disaster victims, he designed modern furniture to be produced in series at affordable prices for the widest possible audience. This chair, designed in 1965, consists of a pivoting metal base covered with a black plastic disc. Reupholstered in green velvet, these chairs were part of a series on the theme of the space age, including the Luna, Jupiter, and Mars chairs.
